Haunts and Eats: Wilmington National Cemetery

If you're looking for haunted, Wilmington is the place to go. They didn't name the river Cape Fear for nothing!

Of course it helps that this was the home of pirates, scoundrels and cutthroats for many years. The riverfront is scary at night. It's easy to imagine all kinds of things down there in the fog.

Wilmington was also heavily involved in the Civil War. Its big guns and forts set along the sand tried to keep the coast for the Confederacy. Many men lost their lives here and their ghosts still walk the cobble stone streets and lonely beaches.

Known as one of the most haunted cities in the U.S., the first stop on our spook's tour was Wilmington National Cemetery. Located at 2011 Market Street, you can easily see the upright slabs of white marble beneath swaying moss and huge old oak trees from the street.

When you first enter, you may find the scenery peaceful. But there is nothing peaceful about these graves and their occupants. This is listed as one wild place when the sun goes down.
