I admitted it on Facebook. I didn't realize how freeing it would be. Yes! I save useless bits of wrapping paper I may never use. There, I said it again.
And the response was overwhelming. Many people confessed their addiction to shiny silver paper, oddly shaped gift bags and rainbow tissue paper. Some even cried.
But we all realized something important. There is nothing wrong with keeping these tiny scraps of memory. Our children and our children's children can come to us when they don't have wrapping paper. They can rejoice in our attics, basements and closets when they find that perfect piece of gift wrap that couldn't be found anywhere else.
Maybe there should be a group where we can empower each other and learn to live with our addictions, confess our weakness and find strength and salvation.
I'm going to set up that Facebook page right away.
